Our Swedish team was very popular.
The other Swedish team, Rudbeckianska skolan from Västerås, has played the tournament several years and won their group. In Sweden they are national school champions. We wish you best of luck with your games!
Teams from 16 countries lined up on the fields before the opening ceremony, Colombia had one of the largest groups, in all ages.
Finally we get to introduce the sixth and final of our American guest players: meet Samantha! The American girls are so valuable to us; without them we wouldn't be enough many to play with both team Passion and Joy. The will double and appear in both teams during the tournament.
We entered the stadium cheered by everybody (but the Norwegian team for some reason?). And our song Football in my heart was played in the ceremony soundtrack!
Some could see better than others. A few celebrities appeared on stage, like Cameroon player Samuel Etó, star striker in Barcelona.
The opening ceremony was a happy, friendly and colourful event. We should have brought loads of Azalea pins, big mistake! So many players wanted to exchange pins and we got many team pins for presents.
All the girls are happy with their families. They were picked up and brought home early after the ceremony to be in good shape for tomorrow's games.
